New Venues Entity

The NSW Government will merge Venues NSW and the Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground Trust (SCGT) to create a single organisation for NSW sporting and entertainment venues, to attract blockbuster events and drive economic activity across the State.

A strong, co-ordinated and streamlined approach to the management of sport and entertainment venues is critical to attract major events and drive associated economic benefit for NSW. See attached media release.

An Interim Advisory Board will be established to oversee the development of the operating model for the new entity, and will include long standing board members of the SCGT and Venues NSW, including Ian Hammond, Christine McLoughlin and John Quayle.

Mr Tony Shepherd AO will be the Chair and Mr Rod McGeoch AO the Deputy Chair of the new entity.

The NSW Government has made a significant investment in world-class facilities and venues, and the new entity will ensure maximum returns with a strong, co-ordinated and streamlined approach to attracting events.

Venues NSW

The Venues NSW Board has been reappointed in the interim with the addition of two new Directors – former Venues NSW Director Noel Cornish AM and Trustee on the SC&SG Trust, Rosheen Garnon.

Ian Hammond has been appointed Chairman. Ian has been a Venues NSW Board Director since 2017 and is equally committed and passionate about the values and culture of Venues NSW and its portfolio of sporting and entertainment venues.

All Venues NSW contracts, agreements and entitlements with sporting codes, clubs, partners and members will continue to be honoured and preserved by the merged entity.
