NEW MEASURES TO REDUCE TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19 IN AUSTRALIA

In response to expert medical advice aimed at slowing the rate transmission of COVID-19 in the Australian community, the Federal and NSW Governments have placed restriction on non-essential outdoor public gatherings of 500 people or more and indoor public gatherings of 100 or more.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison added that social distancing measures, in addition to controlling community transmission, would help alleviate the pressure of our health system throughout the pandemic.

Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy said that while community transmissions existed, it remains low level at the moment.
