Football fans heading to the Barca in Sydney football blockbuster on Wednesday 25 May have kicked an early goal with Transport for NSW confirming that all match tickets will include travel on public transport services to and from Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park.
La Liga superclub FC Barcelona will be playing a historic first match in Australia when they line up against the A-Leagues All Stars and fans with a ticket to the event will now be able to take advantage of free travel on public transport to and from the Stadium.
The entitlement to travel on public transport will extend throughout the Sydney Metropolitan rail network and to the regional cities of Newcastle and Wollongong, and beyond to Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations (non-booked services). It will also include Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail, Sydney Olympic Park Major Event buses, Sydney Metropolitan and Outer Metropolitan regular route buses and Sydney Ferry services.
It’s four weeks tonight that the stars of FC Barcelona will take to the pitch in Sydney and tickets are selling fast for a game that has captured the imagination of Barca fans around the world, along with the Australian sporting public.
Jordan Kerry, Business Development Manager for VenuesLive, said today that the majority of remaining tickets to the match are priced to attract families and keen followers of the game.
“There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the Barca in Sydney game and a big crowd is guaranteed on May 25,” Mr Kerry said.
“It was our intention to keep this game as affordable as possible and over 60 per cent of all remaining tickets are priced under $79 with tickets starting from just $29.”
Jack Mesley, Commercial Director A-Leagues, said: “We are less than a month out from the return of the All Stars and we want as many fans as possible to witness this historic game. In a huge week of football, alongside the Dolan Warren Awards and the men's Grand Final, this initiative means that even more people will be able to get to the game thanks to Transport for NSW."
Kick-off time is scheduled for 8pm. “The most important thing for a good game day experience is for fans to plan their trip and get moving early, leaving plenty of time for getting into the Stadium,” Mr Kerry said. “The pre-game entertainment and warm-ups will start from 7.15pm.”
Fans can plan their trip using the Transport for NSW Trip Planner here.
