The Tour

Wigan Warriors have entered into a strategic partnership with Destination NSW and Destination Wollongong, with the Super League clubs’ tour bringing thousands of visitors to NSW.

The Super League Round 2 game between Wigan Warriors and Hull FC at WIN Stadium on 10 February will be the first ever Super League game outside of Europe. Super League was formed in 1996.

The tour will also see the first ever International Double-Header between NRL and Super League clubs with four of the biggest teams in the world all playing at ANZ Stadium on the same day.

Wigan Warriors are the most successful Rugby League team in Britain having won the league 21 times and the Challenge Cup 19 times. Hull FC are one of the biggest clubs in Super League and are current Challenge Cup holders having won the competition in 2016 and 2017.

Advance ticket sales are strong and fans of all four teams look set to turn out in force to watch the games.

Game 1 – Wigan Warriors v Hull FC at WIN Stadium, Wollongong

Wigan Warriors are hosting Hull FC in a ‘home game’ at WIN Stadium.

The game is a Super League competition game and will look and feel exactly like any other Super League game and will be noticeably different to an NRL game.

The teams are playing for two Super League competition points and for the Kenny Sterling Shield which has been named after famous Parramatta Eels players Brett Kenny (Wigan) and Peter Sterling (Hull), both legends of their respective British clubs.

Advance ticket sales are strong and the event is the hottest ticket in town!

Wigan and Hull will be working with St George Illawarra Dragons and the Australian Jillaroos to deliver The Best of Both Worlds event on Thursday 8 February. This event will showcase rugby league to 45 schools, across five local government areas, culminating in two community events where travelling fans and the local community will have the opportunity to meet the players

The International Double-Header at ANZ Stadium

This is the historic first ever double-header between NRL and Super League clubs.

These are the first games of 2018 in Australia and kick-start the new season.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs and the St George Illawarra Dragons are two of the most famous clubs in international rugby league, and both have large Membership and supporter bases.

This is the first time the Rabbitohs and the Dragons will face Super League opposition since taking part in the World Club Series in 2015.

Thousands of fans will travel to NSW for these games.
